Preference For Public
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, April 29. The New Zealand public will have first call on the special issue of polished proof coins made to mark the last complete issue of circulating coins based on the pounds, shillings and pence system. The Parliamentary Undersecretary for Finance (Mr Muldoon) said tonight that every attempt would be made to have sufficient coins minted to satisfy public demand. “The public will have first choice in the purchase of the sets. Only after we are sure the demand has been met will we permit the sale of quantities of the sets to numismatists.” he said.
