SALUTE OF 21 GUNS
Lord De L’lsle Leaves N.S.W. (N Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SYDNEY, April 29. Howitzers boomed a 21-gun salute and the band of the Ist Battalion played military music as the GovernorGeneral, Lord De L’lsle took his official leave of New South Wales with full pomp and ceremony at Sydney Airport today. Lord De L’lsle, wearing his navy and scarlet ceremonial uniform and familiar white plumed hat, inspected the guard of honour before returning to Canberra. About 50 curious passengers and airport workers stood round as he carried out his farewell inspection. He was met by the State Governor (Sir Eric Woodward), the Deputy-Premier (Mr Pat Hill), and the airport manager (Mr George Inglis). Lord De L’lsle will leave Australia for Britain on May 6.
