“Only Deer In Northland’’
(N.Z. Press Association)
AUCKLAND, April 29. A 10-pointer stag roaming the Bay of Islands area might be the only red deer left in Northland.
The Conservator of Forests at Auckland (Mr A. N. Sexton) said today that most deer in Northland had been killed.
None had been killed since just before Christmas, when 10 were shot. There were no signs of damage which could have been caused if other deer were in the area. But a red stag had been seen.
