REPLACING WIRING
Unless you are an expert electrician you should never rewire any part of your car yourself. If you do you may create a serious fire hazard. Any wiring used in a car should be strictly appropriate for its purpose. Wires leading to the sidelights, dynamo, starter motor, or other components for instance, are all designed to carry different loads. If too heavy a current is passed through a wire of low carrying capacity, the wire will become overheated; indeed, it may become red hot and cause the car to burst into flames.
