British Aircraft Industry

Sir,—l was greatly interested in the article on the TSR2 cancellation. Along with many other such fiascos in the industry, this is, of course, blamed on the Government by both the industry and its sychophantic press. This is a favourite excuse when things go wrong in Britain. Does anybody think a Labour Government with a majority of four would take such a step if it were not absolutely necessary? The industry has been mollycoddled by the Government for 20 years and has not objected. Now it must take its medicine from the same source. The blame for the present appalling situation must rest squarely in one place—the British aircraft industry.—Yours, etc., THE FACTS. April 26, 1965.
