New Electra

Many persons have shown interest in the Qantas Electra which Air New Zealand purchased to replace the Electra which crashed at Whenuapai. On Easter Monday the aircraft flew under charter to the National Airways Corporation through Christchurch. It is now on its Sydney Christchurch-Sydney service, still bearing the Qantas colours but with the New Zealand ZK-CLX identification number. The Electra is being flown by an Air New Zealand crew. Once the pressure of business slackens the Electra will be repainted in Air New Zealand colours at the company’s Auckland engineering headquarters.
