Transport Decisions
A continuous goods-sen-ice licence was granted to Sedley Wells. Ltd., of Christchurch (Mr H. W. Hunter), by the No. 9 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr J. S. Haywood) yesterday. The licence is for the carriage in the No. 8 and No. 9 transport licensing districts of pianos, home appliances, radio and wireless sets, and musical instruments, the property of the licensee, for demonstration purposes, excluding the replacement of stock.
Exemption from rail restriction in both districts was granted. The application was opposed by the Railways Department (Mr F. D. Daly). Maurice Gordon Bell, of Belfast (Mr G. W. Rountree), was granted an amendment for a restricted vehicle authority to authorise the carriage of general goods. J. G. Nutbrown (Mr Hunter) opposed the amendment. An additional vehicle authority was granted to James Barclav Curline, of Christchurch (Mr J. A. Bretherton), for the carriage of his own contracting machinery and gear, with exemption from rail restriction.
Geoffrey William Brown, of Lincoln (Mr R. Flesher), was granted the transfer of a continuous goods - service licence from Leslie Murray Stone, of Christchurch, with permission to use it for a rural mail contract. An amendment to rentalvehicle licence to provide for
