Overseas Stocks Firm, But N.Z. Prices Weak
Overseas stocks gained ground in yesterday’s trading on New Zealand stock exchanges, with key Australian issues heading the trend. Falls by New Zealand shares again outnumbered rises.
The best gain in the New Zealand list was Wilson Malt, up 2s 6d to 33s 6d after firming then fluctuating on quotation. Canterbury Frozen Meat added another 3d to 37s 6d, while New Zealand Insurance, South British, and N.Z. Forest Products recovered fractionally. Among Australian rises Bank of New South Wales added 9d and New Zealand register Is to come into line at 54s 9d, and C.S.R. gained Is 3d to 56s 9d.
