Import Control
Sir, —The news that New Zealand is to have a greater freedom from import control by putting a greater responsibility on the individual, is as refreshing and as welcome as a cool breeze after a long, hot, dry spell. The sooner we are free from all excessive government control and people once again have to use their own initiative in business and industry, the quicker we will progress as a nation. Mr Nordmeyer is concerned about the risks involved. I would say that there is always a certain amount of risk, but it is better than State control. Private enterprise will either rise or fall by its own efforts if given reasonable political freedom.— Yours, etc., F.W.P.F. April 1, 1965.
