NEW MINI VERSION
A new version of the Mini, the Morris Mini de luxe, has been released throughout Australia and is now available in New Zealand to holders of noremittance licences. The noremittance price of this model will be announced soon. The new Mini has a bigger engine, hydrolastic suspension, wind-up windows, new interior trim, bigger brakes and several other innovations.
Developed by engineers of the British Motor Corporation
(Australia), it is produced in the company’s factory at Victoria Park, Sydney. The bigger engine of 998 c.c. (against 848 c.c. for the Morris Mini Minor) gives improved performance, without loss of fuel economy. Interior improvements include moulded foam diaphragm seats covered in expanded vinyl and an extremely slim window-winding mechanism, so there is little loss of interior width. Fulllength door pocket’s' are retained.
Swivelling and locking front quarter lights assist interior ventilation. Braking efficiency has been improved to cope with the increased performance. A diaphragm spring clutch is fitted, the. gearbox is improved and now has a remote control change, and courtesy lights, self-parking wipers, zone-toughened windscreen and crushable sunvisors are all standard equipment. As with the other Minis, the starter now operates from the ignition switch.
