Thieves’ School
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright • BANGKOK, March 30. Bangkok police on Saturday arrested Chit Rengvithi, aged 48, on charges of running a school for young thieves. Arrested with him were ten young bare-footed pupils. The unidentified head of the school escaped by diving into a canal during the police raid. Police alleged Chit and the head of the school held classes every Saturday. The young students were trained to pick pockets, steal from roadside stalls and rob old ladies. Thev were also trained to rob 'drunks in the city’s parks and at bus stops, police said.
The young thieves received cash and heroin as wages for their work, said the police.
