MILITARY PLANES
U.K.-French Agreement (N.Z.P. A. -Reuter—Copyright) PARIS, Mar. 1. Britain and France intend to go into joint production of at least two military aircraft. The aircraft will almost certainly be a strike-trainer and a variable wing plane. Discussions by British and American ministers did not include the Concord, the supersonic airliner joint project, or any other civil plane. No decision has been made for either country to buy existing aircraft produced by the other, says an official British statement. This was seen as scotching French hopes of selling Britain the Brequet 941 transport for Transport Command, and the Brequet Atlantic for Coastal Command. In any case the R.A.F. is replacing Shackletons of Coastal Command with converted Comets.
