Sister To Take Brother’s Role
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) BOSTON, Feb. 27. A sister of the slain Black nationalist leader, Malcolm X, said she would take her brother’s role as leader on a temporary, “caretaker” basis. Mrs Ella Mae Collins, who operates a rooming house in Boston made the statement at a press conference shortly before leaving for New York to attend funeral services for her brother on Saturday. Mrs Collins, like her brother a one-time member of the Black Muslims, said she has no fear for her own life. “No-one can fill Malcolm’s shoes,” she said. “I will endeavour to carry out his programme. I will function in the capacity of choosing those I feel equal to work in his place.”
