DISABLED DRIVER MAKING MONEY
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) London, March 1. Donald Height is out of work and on the dole, but he is making £5O a week as Britain’s first professional bingo player. ' In four months, Mr Height, of Birmingham, has won £9OO. Last year a spinal injury forced him to give up his £25-a-week job as a truck driver. Since then he has been paid £7 a week sick bene-
fit and £3 13s 4d National Assistance to keep his wife and two children, and pay his £4-a-week rent. Out of boredom he went to a bingo (househousie) hall at Smethwick, Staffordshire. He won £2O. “I go four or five times a week to play,” he says. “I have premonitions when I’m going to win. Now I’m saving hard to try and get enough money to buy a small business.”
