Australia's Jack Brabham driving his Repco-Brabhani Climax won the 100-mile international cup at Sandown Park today. Britain’s Jim Clark, driving a Lotus, was second after a race-long duel with Brabham, but made certain of winning the Tasman Cup with his second placing. Clark now has an unbeatable 33 points towards the cup.

Phil Hill was third. Bruce McLaren fourth, Bob Stillwell sixth, Roley Levis seventh. The race was run in 90 degree temperatures on a dry track.

After the race, Bruce McLaren, of New Zealand, who was fourth, said he had’ been forced to stop during the race because of the high cockpit temperatures of his Cooper. “My right foot is blistered and my right shin is burnt from touching the petrol tank,” he said. McLaren could be seen lifting his hands into the slipstream alongside the straights during the race to cool them. “The steering wheel was getting so hot I could hardly hold it,” he said.
