Mr J. W. Rowe, who has been appointed to succeed Dr. C. A. Blyth as director of the New Zealand Institute! of Economic Research.
Dr Blyth, who has accepted! a professorial fellowship ini the School of Pacific Studies of the Australian National University, Canberra. I will relinquish his post in August.
The appointment was announced today by Mr J. T. Andrews, chairman of the institute board of trustees. Since 1961 Mr Rowe has been research director for the New Zealand Bankers Association.
The institute was founded in 1958 to undertake research in the public interest into problems of New Zealand’s economic development.
