SEED FOR AUST.
£5OOO Of Radiata
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, February 22, A consignment of 37.5 million radiata pine seeds from New Zealand will soon be on its way to Victoria to raise 20,000 acres of fores I. The seeds weigh 25001 b and are worth £5OOO. The Victorian Forestry Commission has announced its intention of increasing its exotic forest resources; but New Zealand authorities consider that Australia—with its rapidly-rising population and industrial expansion—is unlikely to overtake its need to import forest products. The consignment is the largest sale of radiata seed yet made by the New Zealand Forest Service.
