Two Score Centuries

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, February 22. Auckland produced two century makers, a fifth wicket stand of 265, a total of 398 for seven declared and generally stole the show on the opening day of the Rothmans national under-23 cricket tournament at Eden Park today. The century-makers were W. Fenton, first in and last out with 181, and H. Smalley, who scored a sparkling 139. Together they took Auckland from the precarious position of 63 for four to 328 for five—the 265 runs coming in 180 minutes of vastly entertaining batting. Auckland 398 for seven declared (W. Fenton 181, H. Smalley 139), Northern Districts two for 52 (W. J. Mitchell 27 not out).

NINO BIBBIA, of Italy, on Sunday won the two-day Swiss bobsled championship on the Cresta run. His aggregate was smin 4.295ec.
