United States military officials in Vung Ro Bay, South Vietnam, yesterday said Communist guerrillas had cleared a strip across South Vietnam. Since a recent shattering defeat and some other actions, there had been no Government forces in a line running from Bong San on the sea. about 300 miles north-east of Saigon, to the border with Laos, they said.
