(From Our Own Reporter) DUNEDIN. Johnny Chappelet followed up a placing earlier in the season with a fine win al the expense
of the favourite, aßtavia, in the Dunedin Two-year-old Stakes at Forbury Park on Saturday. Raced by Mr B. W. Ford, of Ellesmere, he is trained by his
son, A. B. Ford, who drove the son of Johnny Globe and Chappelet. Batavia galloped out but ; caught his gait quickly. He isettled downin front of Dark : Isle and Johnny Chappelet. Batavia slipped the field just; • inside the three furlongs and I he led Johnny Chappelet. by two' I lengths racing to the straight i j with Dark Isle two lengths further back ahead of Lucrative' land Belle Byrd. Johnny Chappelet was pulled 'out inside the furlong and he • soon mastered Batavia, beating■ him by a short length. Three , lengths back Lucrative fought I on for third a length in front I of another strong finisher in I Beyle Byrd, with a gap to Dark Isle, Bryan John, Black Sea and. Prospector. '
