Japanese Too Good For N.Z.

(From Our Own Reporter) MELBOURNE, Feb. 17. Japan defeated New Zealand, 6-0, in the international women’s softball series today. A much improved Japanese team outplayed New Zealand in all departments. J. Bowers, with two hits, was the leading New Zealand batter while A. Lineham and R. Fletcher had one hit. Japan scored 10 hits. Australia suffered its first loss when the United States won a thrilling game, 1-0.

Cricket Transfer.—H. T. Schuster, the Grafton batsman, who made a successful debut for Auckland this season, will be playing in the Northern Districts area next season. Schuster, formerly employed by the Post Office, is to be a sales representative in Hamilton.—(P.A.).
