FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A deep depression far to the south of New Zealand is moving away and a west to south-west airstream covers the country. Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate westerlies inland, elsewhere winds light to moderate and variable; weather fine, with warm afternoon temperatures. Marlborough.—Moderate to fresh northwesterlies in and about Cook Strait, elsewhere winds moderate and variable; weather fine, with mild to warm afternoon temperatures. Nelson.—Fresh south-westerly winds, strong at times in exposed places; isolated showers over the western ranges; otherwise weather fine, with mild day temperatures. Buller and Westland.—Moderate west to south-west winds; cloudy and cool, with scattered areas of drizzle, especially at first and again tonight. Outlook: further drizzle in Buller and Westland, elsewhere fine. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
