Formosans’ List Of Massacres

(N.Z.P. A.- Reuter—Copyright) TAIPEI, February 4. The Chinese Communists have killed or caused the death of 47,940,000 people since taking over the mainland in 1949, the Nationalist “China Weekly” says.

Five million landlords and rich farmers executed in the Agrarian reform campaign. 540,000 killed on the Korean battlefields. 8,400,000 slaughtered in campaigns to suppress antirevolutionaries. Three million put to death as anti-Communist guerillas. Since 1961 successive famines on the China mainland had resulted in the deaths of 8,000,000 and another 1,800,000 had succumbed to malnutrition and exhaustion. In the 1958-60 drive against landlords, rich peasants and anti-revolutionaries, bad elements and local Nationalists, 6,700,000 more were killed.

One million committed suicide under the new marriage laws. 1,400,000 killed during democratic reform. Between 1953 and 1957 3,600,000 lost their lives in the suppression of anti-revolutionaries and anti-rightest campaigns. 3,500,000 estimated to have died in labour reform camps in 15 years. From 1961 to 1963 the suppression of anti-Commu-nist riots and uprisings took the lives of 13,300,000. 500,000 killed during the religious reform.
