Fire In Church Hall
A fire in the wall of the St Chad’s Church hall, Carnarvon street caused only slight damage last evening. Two engines from headquarters stations and one from Woolston were sent when the alarm was given at 6.58 p.m. A fire in a truck in the road tunnel broke out at 3.22 p.m. A short in the engine wiring disabled the truck and caused the fire. The Road Tunnel Authority’s control vehicle and a Woolston fire engine were called to deal with the fire which caused only slight damage to the vehicle.
A grass fire on the property of Robert Duncan Scott, at 165 Rockinghorse road, at 7.37 pun. was put out by New Brighton firemen.
