FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone lies over northern New Zealand. A cold front is moving northeastwards ever the South Island and a second anti-cyclone is developing over the south Tasman Sea. Forecast: Canterbury.—Moderate south-west winds, becoming variable late in the day. Some scattered patches of light rain at first this morning, but fine later. Mild afternoon temperatures. Outlook: mainly fine. Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate variable winds. Some patches of light drizzle this morning, otherwise partly cloudy. Mild afternoon temperatures. Outlook: mainly fine. Nelson and Marlborough.—Moderate variable winds, south-west on the Kaikoura Coast. Scattered light showers this morning about the Kaikoura Coast, otherwise partly cloudy, with warm afternoon temperatures. Outlook: mainly fine. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
