ALUMINIUM HEADS

If the engine of your car is fitted with an aluminium cylinder head you should take special care when it becomes necessary to replace spark plugs. The threads of plug holes in aluminium cylinder heads are more easily damaged than those in heads made of iron.

Each spark plug should be screwed back in with the fingers as far as possible. A spanner should be used only for the final tightening.

Aluminium heads should be tightened down only when the engine is cold; not like iron heads, which should be tightened when hot.
