Sanatorium At Otaki (N.Z. Press Association) OTAKI, February 3. The Minister of Health (Mr McKay) has told a deputation which waited on him last December with suggestions about the Otaki Sanatorium buildings that he does not think another committee of inquiry would serve any useful purpose. Mr McKay said: “The committee’s recommendations might be difficult to enforce on an unwilling hospital board or be beyond the legal capacity of the Department of Health to carry out.” In a letter to the Mayor of Otaki (Mr O. H. E. Yates), who headed the deputation, Mr McKay said: “The possibilities of the use of the sanitorium for geriatric purposes have been very fully gone into by the hospital board and the department, and the board’s officers have advised against it after very full consideration and in the light of expert knowledge.”
