WOOL SALE IN SYDNEY
Strong Demand Continues (N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) SYDNEY, February 3. The second day of the Sydney series No. 11 wool sales continued under very strong competition from Japan, Eastern Europe, the Continent, United Kingdom and Australian mills. When compared with the previous day’s closing levels, values for all descriptions of Merino fleece, skirting and carding wools moved in sellers’ favour and were quoted from par to 2J per cent dearer. There was particularly keen inquiry for medium to strong Merino fleece wools. Comeback and crossbred wools met keen demand, with values showing a hardening tendency and being at times in sellers’ favour. Prices were: Crossbreds, good to super, 56’s, 66}d; and good 58’s, 66jd.
