3rd TEST DRAWN
England 1-0 In Series
(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) CAPE TOWN, Jan. 7.
The third cricket test between England and South Africa petered out into a tame draw yesterday, and England retained a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.
The only chance of a decision depended on South Africa collapsing early yesterday. This did not happen and the Springboks took their second innings- total from 39 for two overnight to 346 all out.
E. J. Barlow hit 78 in 3J hours, including 10 fours, and R. G. Pollock made a forceful and attractive 73 in just over two hours—his highest total of the series. It included 11 sparkling boundaries, mostly from cover drives. SOUTH AFRICA First Innings ..501 Second Innings T. L. Goddard, c Parfitt, b Price 6 E. J. Barlow, c Parks, b Dexter . 78 A. J.
