Withdrawal Opposed
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) DJAKARTA, Jan. 6. Russia disapproves of Indonesia’s decision to withdraw from the United Nations and has urged Djakarta to change its mind. Russia considers Indonesia’s withdrawal would aggravate the tense situation in South-east Asia. Russia has been supplying Indonesia with military equipment since 1960, but during the last year it slowed arms deliveries when Indonesia showed increasing sympathy towards China’s hard line policy. Moscow fears China’s domination of South-east Asia and had repeatedly sought to discourage Asian Communist parties from associating closely with Peking.
