WHARF HOURS
Lyttelton, a busy port at present resumed its normal waterfront activity yesterday morning. The pattern of holidays for New Year will be the same as for Christmas. Work will cease aboard ships at noon tomorrow but vessels due to sail that day will work until 5 p.m. if required. Nev’ Year’s Day will be a holiday and on Saturday, only finishing vessels will work. A full holiday will be observed on Monday and normal work will resume on Tuesday morning.
The handling of passengers’ cars and luggage, and mails aboard inter-island passenger steamers, will continue throughout the holidays.
