FALSE PRETENCE CHARGES
Woman Allegedly Obtained £12,050 (N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 29. Arrested at Honolulu on a provisional warrant issued at New Plymouth, Lesley Frances Holmes, aged 26, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at New Plymouth today on two false pretences charges, involving £12,050 18s 9d.
Holmes was charged that on or about November 11, at Waitara, she obtained £856 14s from the Clifton Dairy Company, Ltd,, with intent to defraud by means of a false pretence and, on or about November 11, she induced the chairman and secretary of the Clifton Dairy Company to make available to her a cheque for £11,194 4s 9d by means of a false pretence. Holmes was remanded until January 18.
