Scratching Of Orbiter
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 28. Orbiter was withdrawn from the Auckland Cup at 7 o’clock this evening on veterinary advice. Orbiter was examined by two veterinary surgeons, one of whom said that the horse should not start. Orbiter’s owner-trainer, W. L. Bagrie, then decided to scratch him.
Orbiter was showing signs of soreness after being worked on Saturday. He was driven in a special trial this morning by the Yaldhurst trainer, G. B. Noble, who said that Orbiter had been showing signs of muscle soreness, but not sufficient to stop him starting tonight.
