ROAD TOLL STILL 426
No Fatalities Yesterday (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 28. No new names were added to the Christmas road death list today and late tonight the holiday driving fatality figure still stood at 10. A Transport Department official said six people were killed on the roads during the same period last year. Over the entire holiday period—Christmas Eve to January 3—ll fatalities had occurred. The total driving death toll for 1964 still stands at 426. The previous worst year was 1962 when 398 people were killed.
Traffic on the main highways today was reported to be particularly heavy.
