The Japanese Davis Cup team opened its Australian tour in great style in the Manly seaside championships today. It was the first appearance by a Japanese team in Australia since 1932.
The captain and No. 1 player, O. Ishiguro, who had beaten some of Australia’s best players .including N- Fraser, J. Newcombe and K. Fletcher, showed his class by easily beating a Manly player, A. Basford, 6-2, 6-2.
