SAVOURY STICKS Ingredients: {-inch thick slices of stale bread A little butter and vegetable extract Bacon strips. Method: Remove crusts from the bread and cut the slices into strips {-inch wide to make lead pencil pieces about 4 inches long. Spread a little butter and vegetable extract along one face of each. Wind narrow strips of bacon round to completely enclose each strip. Bake about 20 minutes at 350 degrees or until the bacon is just crisped. Serve hot or cold. NUTTY STICKS Ingredients: Peanut butter Cooking oil Stale bread. Method: Cut bread into slices about one third of an inch thick. Remove all crusts, placing them on a baking tray. Cut the bread into strips as wide as they are thick, then into pieces about 3| inches long. Place the crust strips on to another baking tray. Bake both lots in a slow oven until they are crisp and pale golden. Roll the crusts into fine crumbs. In the top of a double boiler combine peanut butter with sufficient oil to give a creamy texture and heat together until blended. Dip the crisped sticks into this mix-
