Snell First In Swedish Poll

STOCKHOLM, Dec. 27. P. G. Snell, of New Zealand, double Olympic champion in Tokyo this year, won a world-spanning poll for the “Sportsman of the Year” taken by a Stockholm evening paper, the Associated Press reported, The paper, “Aftonbladet,” asked 79 sports writers from 31 countries to grade their sports favourites of the year. They gave Snell a 712 points rating, compared with 675 for the American swimmer, Don Schollander, and 576 for the Ethiopian marathon runner, Abebe Bikila, who were closest. 1
