Dowling May Miss Game
(From Our Own Reporter) DUNEDIN, Dec. 28. The Canterbury cricket captain, G. T. Dowling, is unlikely to play for Canterbury in the Plunket Shield match against Wellington which starts on Thursday at Lancaster Park. Dowling was hit in the face when the ball flew off his bat while attempting to hook F. J. Cameron in Canterbury’s second innings. Dowling was taken to the Dunedin Hospital and had a minor operation on his jaw. He stayed in the hospital and did not return with the Canterbury team this evening. A possible replacement for Dowling has not been decided on and the selector (Mr W. McD. Anderson) will announce his team today.
