MR JAMES INNES
(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, December 28.
Mr James Innes, who died at Timaru on Sunday’ at the age of 90, owned Haldon station and three bordering high-country runs, Stony Creek, Black Forest and Kirkliston, before they were taken over by his sons. Born in Scotland, Mr Innes graduated as a master of arts at Aberdeen University and, in 1911, he took over Stony Creek. He served in World War I.
Interested, primarily, in Merinos, he did much to improve the breed. Mr Innes is survived by his wife and three sons, Messrs J. I. Innes (Haldon and Kirkliston stations), A. Innes (Black Forest and Stony Creek), and G. Innes.
