EXTRADITION OF WOMAN
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 28. A young Taranaki woman arrested in Honolulu under the Fugitive Offenders’ Act a few days ago arrived in Auckland today under the escort of Detective Sergeant G. Hogan, of New Plymouth. She is Lesley Frances Holmes, aged 24, of Waitara. She will later appear in the New Plymouth Magistrate’s Court on charges of false pretences. The warrant under which she was apprehended by the Hawaii police alleged she obtained about £3OOO by false pretences.
Detective Sergeant Hogan flew to Honolulu on Christmas Day.
League Support.—Mr D. B. Dalias, District Commissioner of Works, Christchurch, has been congratulated by the Canterbury Progress League on his recent article in “The Press” on the maximum utilisation of Canterbury’s water resources.
