Japanese To Prepare (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) TOKYO. December 28. Two Japanese scientists today left Tokyo for Perth, Western Australia, to prepare for the reopening of the Japanese Antarctic base on Ongle Island late next year. The Showa base has been closed since April. 1961, when the sixth wintering team left for home. The Education Ministry in Tokyo said the visit to the Antarctic of the two scientists—a biologist and a geologist—had been arranged by the Japanese Science Council and Soviet academy of Science.
