CHRISTMAS AT PRISON
Chnsmas Day at Paparoa Prison was rather quiet and treated as a religious day. the prison superintendent (Mr J. Rogers) said yesterday. Church services were held throughout the day. “We try to create a religious atmosphere and the men realised this and co-operated well.” he said. Inmates were allowed to receive parcels from their relatives. Church groups sent parcels for those inmates who did not receive any. The menu for Christmas dinner was roast pork and apple sauce, roast potatoes, and green peas, and Christmas pudding and sauce.
