Record-Breaking Games

TOKYO, Dec. 25.
Japan established a record in ticket sales for the Tokyo Olympic Games, the organising committee announced yesterday. The committee said 96.4 per cent of 2,000,983 tickets issued for the games had been sold.
This compared with 44.5 per cent at Rome, 52 per cent at Melbourne and 47 per cent at Helsinki.
Tickets for the opening 1 ceremony totalled 61,312, > making a 100 per cent sale. • There was a 99.8 per cent sale 1 at the closing ceremony. Track and field and swirn- ; ming were placed third, with ' 99.2 per cent, the committee said.
The number of Olympic participants totalled 7482 5558 athletes and 1924 officials—from 94 nations.
