Sir, I think you’ve had your usual Christmas Card From your punctilious Bard? Beyond That, at this Stage, he has Nothing serious to say About Christmas Day. He does not presume to chip in, there are so many Teachers And experienced Preachers, No Shortage of Pulpits to suit every Section or Creed Or person Need For Doctrine, Precept and Text, without Which, Sir, Christmas couldn’t occur. Well, it DID occur, not so very many Hours ago, And, do You know, I can honestly say that I don’t feel any the Worse for It (Though lighter in the Purse for It.) Did I hear Someone say that It’s All Commercialised? I’m a Little surprised! Sir, my dear Readers, the Lot of Us, who are WE —? What else should It be After all these Centuries in which the Money changers Have not been Strangers To the Temple? Including our common simple sinful Selves. With our Tills, our Shelves, Our Jazzed-up Wares and our mixed-up Souls all weighed In the Balance of Trade? It’s precisely because of Man's deplorable Be haviour That he needs a Saviour If he weren’t What he shabbily is, there'd be no Call For Christmas at All! If I WERE a serious Person, a Friend of good Causes, It’s only Santa Claus’s Omnipresent Image that I’d like to obliterate Sir, let Me reiterate, We’ve just about pushed the Santa Personality Cult To its *ne plus ult.’ Haven’t we? Old Beef Face, Pot Belly, Bottle Nose, Falstaffian Pose! I’m no Geriatrician, Sir, but does This make YOU feel Like a festive Meal?
