JACKPOT
(Special Crspdt. N.Z P.A.) SYDNEY. Dec. 23
The “golden bale” of wool which fetched £1523 at auction recently was entirely from a backyard Merino ram called Jackpot, said the wool and ram's owner, Mr Sam Picker, of Bigga, southern New South Wales, this week. He was in Sydney to farewell the record bale which was transported by jet aircraft to the English purchaser. Mr Picker said the entire bale, which comprised some 60 fleeces, came from progeny of Jackpot which he kept tethered in his backyard. “About 70 per cent of his progeny are true to his almost perfect fleece.
. . . I wouldn't sell him for £50,000. I wouldn't put a price on him,” he said.
