FLOODS ON WELSH BORDER.—Pedestrians using a specially-erected walk in the flooded Frankwell district of Shrewsbury. The floodwater gauge on the Welsh Bridge over the Severn river, Shrewsbury, was recording just over 17ft above normal. Hundreds of acres of land and the lower floors of about 300 shops and houses were under water. Flooding at Shrewsbury normally follows exceptionally heavy rainfall on the Berwyn and Plynlimon range.
