Crook enden's Plight
t.V.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. December 22. Lack of finance could prevent I. S. Crookenden from teaming with h>s Davis Cup partner, L A. Gerrard, in the international lawn tenms invitation tournament, which will begin at Stanley street courts on February 2. Crookenden is available to plav in New Zealand from January’ 21 to February 15 and would be able to compete in the Auckland and Canterbury championships and the international tournament Mr A W. Tills, the tournament manager, said today that the Auckland Promotions Committee had raised £lOO but still needed more to pay Crookenden's return air fare from the United States of £330. “Unless the balance of the air fare is raised within a short time it will not be possible for Crookenden to come to New Zealand," said Mr Tills. Crookenden is a student at the University of California.
