MINOR FIRES
An electric heater caused a small fire in a room of the home of Mr L. Ford, 73 Gayhurst road, at 1.30 p.m. yesterday. The room was only slightly damaged. St. Albans and Headquarters stations firemen attended.
A chimney fire in the home of Mr F. H. Scott, 82 Middlepark road, caused no damage. Sockburn firemen answered the alarm at 8.4 a.m.
A fairly extensive grass fire in Queen Elizabeth Park at 2.33 p.m. caused no damage to property. Firemen from the New Brighton and Headquarters stations on three engines put out the blaze.
Seven minutes later, a grass fire on an empty section behind 234 Kilmore street was put out by Headquarters firemen. A small grass fire off Marine parade was put out by New Brighton firemen at 3.51 p.m.
