HONOLULU, December 20.

The New Zealand surfers, A. Mowtell and J. Paine, were eliminated in the preliminaries of the senior men’s division of the world surfing championships at Makaha Beach today, the Associated Press reported. Forty-eight surfers, including two Australians, survived th" preliminaries out of a field of about 160. Conditions were considered good though the eight to 12-foot waves were not as high as some desired. Offshore winds gave some trouble.
