BRISBANE, December 21
The New Zealand surf team competing at Surfers Paradise today against the Queensland State team did not fare well but it did gain a surprise victory when R. Harkes (Auckland) downed the Australian belt champion, P. Rigby, in the senior belt race. There was nothing much in it other than a touch each way between the three place-getters. The New Zealand team just could not match the home team.
